Walk-A-Thon

Last Saturday Max's school held a walk-a-thon fundraiser to earn money for field trips and school supplies. It was at 8 o'clock in the morning- on a Saturday! And it was freezing but that didn't bother the kids at all.  They set out running right away.
Papa & Dave chatting before it started.

Grammie was there to participate and cheer him on.

Max did 2.25 miles in 30 minutes.

Jack tried to keep up with the big kids, but mostly ended up running by himself.  He did a great job too- he ran about a mile and a half.  He was so funny afterwards because he just kept saying how tired his legs were.

 Proof I was there.

Allie even got in on the running action- until she fell face first on the pavement.  Then she ran with Daddy.

Getting his punch card all filled out- great job Max!!

Sunny day at the park

I can't help myself, I always take profile pictures of Allie with the hopes on one day making a silhouette to hang on the wall in her room.

 Jack eyeballing his banana.

 I love these little feet.

I love this picture of the girls all sitting together eating their suckers together.  I only wish I would have ran around to the front and gotten that angle too.  They are so cute- I hope they all grow up and stay friends.

Birthday dinner & ice cream

Because a certain someone has a birthday coming up this week- (ahem, the guy in white) we went out to dinner Sunday night to a tiny little restaurant hidden in a shopping center in Arcata called La Trattoria.  Dave had seen it once when he was working in that area and I had heard great reviews about it from Kate so we decided to try it out.  Aside from not really understanding the names for the food, and the fact that they didn't serve soda (other than Italian soda) it was really good.  I was a little apprehensive about what I ordered but this shouldn't surprise anyone since I am very picky and not known to try new things.  I believe what I ordered was called "Black Trumpet & Hedgehog Mushroom w/ragu sauce & pencilli".  Don't quote me on that, but it was really good.

Too bad I ruined this pic with my over cheesy smile.

Because this fella in the black striped shirt's birthday is one week before Dave's birthday we celebrated together.  They boys did ask if we were going on to celebrate for their birthdays or if we were going out for ourselves.  For their birthdays of course!  But bonus that we got to spend the evening together with friends we enjoy!

Afterwards we went to get ice cream (I won't lie.  I didn't eat ice cream.  We stopped by the frozen yogurt place on the way home and I put some containers in my trusty cooler to save for later).

It was all of our first time at Arcata Scoop and it was so cute in there.  We sat on the giraffe swinging table and rocked while they ate ice cream.  I can't say that rocking back and forth while eating is that great of an idea though.  We want to take the kids back there because they had a really cute play area for the kids and a carousel bunny to ride.

For the kids.

Where are you?

After a particularly LONG evening and having told Jack about a thousand times he could not sleep on Max's bed I went in to check on them and this is what I found.  It just made me laugh and of course go grap the camera.  The first thing I saw was Jack's little foot.

Max basically had his face planted in the wall.

Jack hidden under blankets.  So funny.

Painting in the sunshine

The weather was so beautiful this past weekend that we were able to finish up the inside AND the outside of the laundry room.  We were able to get the outside painted (whew).  I have to say that it is nice pulling up to the house and seeing all the siding on and a nice coat of fresh paint.

I don't mind painting, but I have to be honest- I am TIRED of painting this house.  It will all be done soon and so worth it.

Felt Flower Wreath

The kids were sick on Monday and stayed home from school so I decided to finally tackle making the felt flower wreath that I started back in the beginning of January.

That huge pile did not make nearly as many flowers as I had thought, but I did have enough to do it.

Per my usual, I got about halfway done and started losing steam, but I did manage to finish it.

I like how it turned out although I am realizing it is kind of the same color as the wall.

Finally on the wall.
